We believe that encouraging cultural development of the arts by means of art education is one way of promoting cultural diversity and mutual respect among cultures.
Dogon Music Worldwide offers drumming workshops, drumming therapy sessions, lessons in guitar, keyboard and drums.
DRUMMING WORKSHOPS
We can provide Drumming workshops and therapy sessions for individuals, groups schools, community centers, corporate events, prisons and rehabilitation centers from small circles to groups up to 20 people.
Our drumming workshops aim to create a fun, non-intimidating environment which inspires learning group participation and is void of social barriers. The various levels of workshops concentrate on rhythm patterns of various traditional drums (djembe, dundun, kpalongo, konga).
African drumming is not only a personal but a group activity and offers a powerful way to learn:
- inward and outward focus
- self awareness and self esteem
- mastery of breath and movement
- ability to stay "on task"
- increased listening skills
- increased frustration tolerance
- channeling aggressive/destructive impulses into creative and positive activity
Our therapy sessions are intuitive, spontaneous and highly personalized, allowing for greatest degree of creativity and self expression within a structure and disciplined process. They focus on the development of coping skills, identification and expression of feelings which is practiced both verbally and by using the hands on the drum.
MUSIC TUITION
Dogon Music Worldwide has in its network skilled musicians who offer tuition in guitar, bass guitar, kora, balafon, keyboard, saxophone/ clarinet and djembe.
ART WORKSHOPS
On request, we organize art workshops and after school activities.
LANGUAGE COURSES
In our network, we have also qualified teachers for English (ESOL,TEFL) , French and German.
