Music & Story: "Doing things with words" - Griotism
Retold by generations of griots, guardians of the African oral tradition, the epic history of Sundiata has been handed down from the 10th century and captures all the mystery and majesty of African medieval kingship.
Adesose Wallace, jeli Mosi Conde, jeli Kadialy Kouyate, jeli Cheick-Hamadou Traore and jeli TUUP from Dogon Music, all London based contemporary Jelibas, Griots, poets and musicians, will take you on a journey of word and music exploring the true Lion King of Africa- Sundiata Keita Maridjata,founder of the ancient Mandinka Empire in Mali.

Story telling evening : Sundiata- an Epic of old Mali
A 13th century tale from the African kingdom of Mali, Sundiata recounts the struggle of a young prince to overcome his physical debility and protect his homeland and throne.
This is a group performance of the Greenwich Storytelling Company under the direction of the magnificent storyteller TUUP and with music from Dogon Music griots (kora and drum) .

Empower All Festival 2007
A small and lively festival for Refugee Week with lots of workshops, dance, artwork competition, good food, information stalls, exhibition of youngpeoples' artwork created for Refugee Week and face painting, all celebrating the diversity and wealth of London's refugee communities.
Dogon Music will provide a drumming workshop and a closing live music performance that will surely get you dancing. Registration for workshops is at 2pm, just before teh opening speech of the Mayor of Greenwich
